FBLA Students Shine

Received the following email from Laura Hilzendeger, who along with Christiann Thomas, is the FBLA advisor for FHS.  Thought this news was too good to keep to myself; congratulations everyone!

There is good news to share with all of you regarding what amazing students we have at Fife HIgh School (FHS)!

Christiann Thomas and I took 16 students to teh Washington State Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference in Spokane, WA from April 9-11.  The students did a great job representating FHS and FBLA.

JunHo Lee served this past year as the WA State FBLA President. He helped to organize, run, and preside over the FBLA conference for the entire 3 days. He did an awesome job and we should all be proud of his representation at this conference for Fife High, the communitites of Fife and MIlton, and FBLA.  I believe that he even shed a tear or two in his goodbye speech.

We will again this year be making the trip to the FBLA National Conference June 23-29 in Anaheim, CA.  We had four FBLA members qualify to compete at the national level.

  • Jessica Colburn – 1st place in Who’s Who for FBLA
  • Leah Powell – 1st place in Client Service
  • Tierney Kuhn – 1st place in the following 3 events:  Desktop Applications Programming, Economics, and Internet Applications Programming, 2nd place in Databse Design & Applications
  • Nicole McCaffrey – 3rd place in Creed

Jessica, Leah, and Tierney are amazing senior FBLA members who hav eworked very hard over the past three years to achieve excellence and we are so proud of their individual accomplishments and successes in FBLA as well as other areas of their lives.  NIcole is new to FBLA this year and we are so excited for how well sheperformed as a sophomore at the FBLA State Conference.  All four of these girls will be traveling to the national conference and will need to raise approximately $2,800 to cover all of their expenses.  If you know of any organizations that can help us find assistance in these tough economic times please let us know.

As always thanks for your continued support of Fife High School Future Business Leaders of America.

Ms. Laura Hilzendeger, Business Education Department
