WOW Refrigerator Updated
Posted on September 3rd, 2008 by Elaine Smith
Stop by our WOW Refrigerator; it’s currently been updated and features the work of our elementary art students at Alice V Hedden Elementary and Endeavour Intermediate School. Under the direction of elementary art teacher Kendra Danielson, these second-fifth graders have created some wonderful and inspiring work.
Please leave a comment here for these young artists and their teacher!

Ms. Danielson,
Thank you for showcasing so many examples of the great art pieces your students are creating. I really like the pieces patterned after the works Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keefe. Ms. O’Keefe is one of my favorite artists and I am so fascinated with how well your young students have captured her love of shading on her large floral paintings.
Keep up the great work!
I viewed the WOW area and was very impressed with what is happening at each school. It is nice to view the blog and see what is happening at the different schools. I was surprised to see how we have jumped to 30% in English as the second language classification. I have always known that the school district is a big seller in the real estate area. I enjoyed this and will try to return to this area often. Thanks so much for putting this on.
Thank you Mrs. Kusler. You are right; we are a changing district and we welcome our ever-growing diversity. Please do come back often!

Ms. Danielson-
Sometimes we take for granted the great work being done by our students at the direction and design of outstanding teachers such as yourself. Please share with your students that on so many occassions when I am presenting about the work of our school district around the nation, I showcase the very work of your students to illustrate my point.People are so impressed to say the least. Your students never cease to amaze us with the caliber and quality of their work. This makes it worth the effort that we put forth in this district to ensure that the arts will always have thier equal place in the education of the whole child in Fife.
Thanks again for all that you do to provide our students with a first rate arts education.

Our family so enjoys the Art Shows down at Columbia!!! What a wonderful thing you all do for the kids and families.I love being able to see all the pictures online. Thank-you, Denise Faranda
Ms. Danielson, thank you for the gift you share with your students everyday. The lessons you present open new doors in the minds of kids and give them opportunites to express themselves in ways they’ve never been able to before. I marvel at your innovative ideas and concepts only to be completely knocked off my feet by the beautiful work the students produce! Your smile lights up the hallways at Hedden and my kids adore you! You’re the best…
I think that Picasso said it best….“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
Every day our young students remind me what it is to persistently ask “why”, to think outside of the box, to fearlessly try something new, to face a challenge, to ignore wavering insecurities and to show enthusiasm in everything that they think, hear or attempt to try. My job is full of joy and constant a-ha’s…for me and our students. You can see it in the quality of their work.
Thank you for taking the time to check out the WOW Refrigerator and the Art Webpages at both Endeavour and Hedden. The support from the Fife School District’s personnel and parents is what allows our students to flourish and grow into well-rounded people. And thank you so much for the thoughtful comments and compliments. I will make sure to share the kudos with the kiddos!
