Fife FBLA Students Place Nationally
Fife High School students Tierney Kuhn, JunHo Lee, & Jessica Colburn, recently represented the State of Washington at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) 2008 National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Competing in FBLA’s national awards program, the three students placed 10th in Emerging Business Issues against state representatives from across the United States and worldwide.
The competition is part of a competitive events program sponsored annually by FBLA, the premier association for students pursuing business and business-related careers. Individuals, local chapters, and state teams compete in 60 events representing a range of leading edge business, career, and leadership development activities. The top two or three winning members or teams at the state level are eligible to compete in this international event. Washington State entered 188 students in competition with 41 placing in the top 10 in various events. Only 2% of FBLA’s 253,000 members who have won state and regional competitions qualify for the national awards program. The 8,000 delegates to the annual conference, representing the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Guam, the Cayman Islands, and Europe, elect national student officers and attend business and leadership workshops in addition to competing in business and career skill events. This year’s national theme, “Leadership in Action,” reflects the goals of FBLA members, some of the best and the brightest of today’s young people.

What a fun surprise to see JunHo Lee in this photo. He’s my neighbor and I’m so proud of the accomplishments he’s made. Keep up the hard work, JunHo!
